Xiaomi Drone, Overview Features and Specifications

Its Evident! The famous phone making Company Xiaomi announced its space in the emerging drone market with the launch of its first ever Drone today (called Xiaomi Mi Drone). Until its officially revealed today, i was surprised how a gadget maker announce a Drone with no prior experience and compete with the professionals like Yuneec and DJI -who are already pioneers in the drone world- leading the market.

Seems Xiaomi wanted/having there presence every where, right from $2 LED light to today's drone technology. I had to admit the fact that, masses who cannot  afford a GoPro, still had their GoPro with its launch of $63 Yi Sports Action Camera and the recent now with the 4K Action Camera 2

Xiaomi Mi Drone, Featuring 4K Camera

Xiaomi Mi Drone can be classified as a semi-professional aerial drone with the features almost similar to DJI Phantom 3 and Yuneec Typoon 500 4K. Mi Drone will be available in two variants, one with 4K Camera which can record video at 30 FPS and other variant featuring  HD 1080 P camera. CEO Lei Jun also confirmed that the drone with 4K camera will be priced at 2999 yuan ($450 approximately) and the standard variant will be available at 2,499 yuan ($380 approximately) in the retail market, in the month of July.

Xiaomi Drone's 4K Camera (looks almost similar to the Yuneec Typhoo 4K Camera) is featuring 12MP Sony's sensor and Ambarella image processor and  has the ability to record 4k videos at 3840 x 2160 resolution. Its obvious from the pictures that the detachable camera can be equipped to the 3-axis Gimbal (CGO3?) for the smooth aerial video

5100 mAh Smart Battery and Transmitter

With the high efficient 5100 mah lithium polymer battery, Xiaomi claims that the drone has a flight time of around 27 minutes which seems to be 2 minutes longer when compared to Phantom 3 and  Yuneec Q500.  

The remote controller looks almost similar to DJI and has the option recharge with the USB. Mi Drone uses PCB antenna on the transmitter to enhance the  control distance upto 3 Kilometers  and has a option to stream the 720p live footage of the camera to the smart gadget via app (SmartPhone/Tablet).

Flight Features

The flight features include, Auto take off -landing , GPS position hold and altitude hold , orbit flying and waypoint navigation. Obstacle avoidance is something a greedy feature to expect  the follow-me feature should be obvious for the price tag of below $500

Xiaomi Yi 4K Action Camera 2 set to Slam Gopro 4

Xiaomi is all set to release its new 4K Sports Action Camera (Yi Action Camera 2) into the market very soon, a year back on March 2 2015 xiaomi launched its first affordable Xiaoyi Sports actions camera for $66 with high end specifications and breathtaking image quality, this still sells as a hot cake.

Though the news is not officially listed on Xiaomi's website, but official Yi Facebook confirmed , new Xiaomi 4K Sports Camera is on its way!
